Tucked away in the picturesque village of Kelmscott, we are just 22 miles outside of Oxford and easily accessible from London, Manchester and Birmingham by train or car.
We’re a quintessential Oxfordshire pub in an original 17th century stone brick building. Our bar and dining room have plenty of cosy corners, with flagstone floors, wooden beams and roaring log burners, perfect for sheltering from the cold of winter, whilst our lush garden is the ideal space to bask in the sun and enjoy a pint or two in the summer months.
Upstairs, we have 8 bedrooms for our guests to enjoy for a weekend or more…
We’re just a stone’s throw away from Kelmscott Manor, the former home of British designer Willam Morris. The beautiful gardens of the house inspired and influenced many of his designs that we recognise today. As well as neighbouring this historic site, we are just a 5 minute walk, across the fields, from the Thames Path. With beautiful scenes throughout the year, it’s the perfect spot to work up an appetite for a meal with us.
Comforting starters such as double Gloucester soufflé or seasonal soup with pub bread and butter are the perfect warm-up to the main event. Try our steak with crispy fries and confit garlic butter or local ale battered haddock and chips. And don’t forget to join us on a Sunday for our famously good roast.
Escape from the city for a night or more. Whether you’re travelling as a twosome or with friends, we have 8 beautifully designed bedrooms to retreat to. With traditional country-chic style interiors and polished bathrooms, we can’t think of a better place to experience idyllic country living.
